Protests and Boycotts Essays - Southern California,
The Metrolink strike of ontario california, this was all happening around late October when the amount of people decreased that would go on the metrolink regularly , this mainly had to do with the fact that the Metrolink Had killed a man that was on the train tracks. Even though the train had resumed its route to L.A. after the strike people still did not think that is was right. This has actually happened multiple times around this community. Believe it or not but these trains are extremely safe but these things are extremely tragic. Obviously the owners of the metro link should be taking more safety precautions at this point even if it does mean fencing people off or setting something up that gets people of the tracks so this will not happen. The strike of the Metro Link took a huge tool on the numbers that the metro was getting. It shows how much of an impact that the people really do have ,Yes it is not the same case as when the bus boycotts but you must remember that they are fi ghting with different causes and are both trying to make something better out of what is happening, I had asked my parents and family about what they thought about all of this and they said The metro link needs to make a change to make sure that this doesn't happen again, it's rather odd that they don't have anything like a fence or a gate in certain spots that trains pass by , it is 2019 their hasn't been anything like it anywhere. I had also interviewed a young woman that said she lives close by the where the strike occurred she told me I heard all the officers at the tracks and had already known what happened she say that this has happened 3 times since she moved here in 2007. This accident also happened to effect train service all throughout Southern California. Not only did this cause a strike but it change the viewpoints of many people on if these train or the metrolink are really safe. The man that passed away was never identified and this is also a tragic happening, I had spoken to an officer who was at the time hearing all this over his radio and he says Things like this are terrible, this shouldn't be happening anywhere around the world , personally i feel that the metros and the train stations have to make a change but that's not my job to change the rules. People compared this too when it happened in San Bernardino California when a person was struck by a train and fatally injured, the conductor only says the individual shouldn't have been on the track but honestly i believe that the companies of trains and such should not even have to have this problem their should be more safety precautions to make it easier on the train itself. The picture shown up top is of the Metro Link the same train that hit the man and the company that everyone was boycotting. A reporter for the daily bulletin had asked someone who was boycotting this and they had said I don't want to be on a train that has killed people, i do not want to be acotiated with this. This had a major impact on lives on worker on everything around the Southern California area it's just absolutely insane too see the impact that this had on so many people the community actually hasn't been the same since. The metro took a great impact and yet train companies haven't done anything to change something about this. Rokos, Brian, and Brian Rokos. Things to Know About Using a Nursing Entrance Sample Essay
Things to Know About Using a Nursing Entrance Sample EssayA nursing entrance sample essay would contain a bunch of information that a potential applicant may include in the essay. These are things like demographics, training and education, and references from other employers. These samples should be easy to follow and should also be listed as well.A writing sample can be easily modified into a nursing entrance sample essay with the simple click of a button. Some samples will only require basic computer programs and word processing skills. Other samples may require a lot more sophisticated software and skills to do well.To get a professional nursing entrance essay written, an application for admission should be submitted. It should contain specific information about oneself and educational background. This information will be used by the admissions committee to determine whether or not the applicant is a good fit for the program.Part of the process involves an essay. Sometimes this es say is even the first thing considered by the committee. Once it is accepted, then the applicant must try to write a well-written, decent essay. If the applicant is sent a sample essay, then they may also be given a 'practice' version of the same.For those who are on the 'blink of an eye', then a sample is not really available at all. Most programs do not have a written requirement and do not keep their samples around. Once a person gets accepted, then the admissions department will usually send out an official introduction with all the details, including a letter.Most programs do expect that the person writing the essay will have some prior experience with English composition. They will generally want an essay that is no longer than two hundred fifty words. A sample should be more than enough for the admissions committee to be able to provide feedback.Some colleges and universities have large databases of all sorts of written essays. When using these samples as a starting point, th e college or university does not have the ability to edit the essay. The person writing the essay, however, does have the option of checking and editing their work.After it is submitted, the applicant may check and see if there are any errors in the sample. If so, they can make the necessary corrections before submitting it to the admissions committee. Having a perfect piece of writing may get the person into the program, but having a little guidance and editing can make all the difference.

Its Greeking to Me
Its Greeking to Me Itââ¬â¢s Greeking to Me Itââ¬â¢s Greeking to Me By Maeve Maddox In the play Julius Caesar, Brutus and Cassius question Casca about the occasion on which Caesar reluctantly refused a crown offered him by Mark Antony. Casca is portrayed as a gruff, plain-speaking sort of man. CASSIUS. â⬠¨Did Cicero say any thing? CASCA. â⬠¨Ay, he spoke Greek. CASSIUS. â⬠¨To what effect? CASCA. â⬠¨Nay, an I tell you that, Ill neer look you i the face â⬠¨again: but those that understood him smiled at one another and shook their heads; but for mine own part, it was Greek to me. Like so many quotations from Shakespeare, ââ¬Å"itââ¬â¢s Greek to meâ⬠has entered everyday speech. To say that something is ââ¬Å"Greek to youâ⬠means that something written or spoken is incomprehensible, either because you lack the information to understand, or because the speaker or writer has failed to express the idea clearly. A spin-off of Shakespeareââ¬â¢s quotation is the graphic design term greeking. â⬠¨ Greeking, from a typographic point of view, is the use of nonsense or dummy text, instead of the real body copy. This is done by designers to give the page an overall grey, or flat appearance, so as not to distract from the design layout. Design: Talkboard An example of greeking known to anyone who has ever browsed WordPress themes or looked through a computer manual is lorem ipsum. This block of nonsense Latin derives from an essay byappropriately enoughCicero. Designers have good reason to use greeking. Comprehensible copy used to illustrate graphic design is distracting. A client will start reading the copy and be annoyed if it stops mid-sentence. The use of a greeking text ensures that attention remains focused on the design. Messed-up Latin seems to be the most usual form of greeking, but other languages, including Greek, are used. If you would like to generate your own passage of greeking, thereââ¬â¢s a site for it. Your choices include Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Russian, Esperanto and Morse Code. Hereââ¬â¢s that last paragraph greekedboth figuratively and literally: Ãâà µ Ãâ¡Ã ±Ã à ¬ ÃÆ'Ãâ¦Ã ½Ã ¬Ã ´Ã µÃ »Ãâ à ¿Ãâ à µÃâ¬Ã ¹Ãâ¡Ã µÃ ¹Ã à ·Ã ¼Ã ±Ãâà ¯Ã µÃâ à ´Ã à ¿, à µÃ »Ã à ³Ãâ¡Ã ¿Ã⦠Ãâ¬Ã µÃ à ¯Ãâ¬Ã ¿Ã⦠à ½Ã ¹Ã à ²Ã ¬Ã ½Ã ± ÃÆ'à µ à ¼Ã ±Ãâ. The Internet Bubble Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
The Internet Bubble - Research Paper Example During this period, investors believed that a new era had begun with the internet sector seeing a 1000% growth in only two years, which equaled nearly 6% of the USââ¬â¢ market capitalization and more than 20% of equity volume traded publicly in the US. The bubble hit its peak in early 2000 with a score of 5,048.62 on NASDAQ (Kraay & Ventura, 2011). During this period, the sector saw increased establishment of internet companies that were referred to as Dotcom companies, taken from the suffix at the end of their URL. This bubble burst between the years 2000 and 2002 as NASDAQ saw a loss in value of over 80% with companies, for instance Pets.com, failing completely with more than $7 trillion destroyed in market value (Kraay & Ventura, 2011). This paper seeks to detail what happened during this period, why it transpired, the way it could have been prevented, as well as the main players in the internet bubble.The internet was responsible for creating a euphoric attitude in the 90s, in spiring hopes for the internet as online commerceââ¬â¢s future. This led to the formation of many dotcom companies hoping that they would be worth millions. However, most of these companies were not very successful as those that were overvalued (Perkins & Perkins, 2009). This resulted in these companies crashing, leaving significant losses to be handled by the investors. The collapse, in fact, precipitated the stock market crash of 2001 more than 9/11 did, costing investors $5 trillion. The mid to late 90s saw unrealistic expectations from the public regarding what the internet had to offer. Internet entrepreneurs invested in the hope of becoming internet billionaires, inspiring companies like Kozmo, eBay, and Amazon. However, for every internet company that became a success, hundreds of others collapsed. Most investors ignored fundamental rules of the stock market such as the analysis of P/E ratio, reviewing business plans, and the study of market plans (Perkins & Perkins, 2009) . They, instead, became pre-occupied with ideas that had no proven potential in the market. Factors that Led to the Internet Bubble Burst Two basic factors contributed to this phenomenon. The first was the utilization of metrics that were ignorant of cash flow. Most analysts laid emphasis on aspects of individual entrepreneurship that were not concerned with how to generate cash flow or revenue. One theory contends that the bubble burst due to the investorsââ¬â¢ pre-occupation with what was referred to as the network theory, which stated that a networkââ¬â¢s value increased exponentially. In addition, the number of nodes increased (Adams, 2009). While this made sense, it neglected the companyââ¬â¢s ability utilizing the network for cash generation and making the investors a profit. Secondly, most of the internet company stocks were overvalued. On top of focusing metrics that were unnecessary, analysts made use of high multipliers in formulas and models in the valuation of t he companies, resulting in overly optimistic and unrealistic values (Adams, 2009). While the conservative analysts were not in agreement, the recommendations they made were

Ethical dilemma about the same sex marriage Research Paper - 1
Ethical dilemma about the same sex marriage - Research Paper Example Two people belonging to the same sex getting marriage do not cause any sort of harm to the society. Society that does not give the permission to the gay people to get married is not saving the people from any harm but is causing the renunciation of basic human rights which hence is unethical. Both these concepts are considered to be the conditions of ethics. However, a society denying the rights of gay people to get married is unethical. It is a fact that gay marriages do affect the purity of the cultural concepts, the religious scholars, the sanctity regarding the natural human intimacy, etc. Some of the Christian, Muslim and Jewish extremists think that it is against their faith for the people belonging to same sex to have lustful and loving feelings for one another. The Christian extremist going back to the bible may quote that Our Creator finds it unacceptable to go against the law of nature. The book of Genesis states that God has created a man for a woman and a woman for a man and it cannot be other way around. Most of the faiths also agree to the fact that the primary purpose of marriage is reproduction, which however cannot take place naturally in the same sex marriages (Benson, 2013). There are some of the religious scholars that do support the gay marriages by stating that God condemns such marriages only when it is based on lust not love. Some of the supporters of gay marriages also say that the story of creation present in the religious books is more symbolic than real. In the modern world there are a large group of people which think that marriage is more about love and understanding than starting a new family, so therefore they do not considered gay marriage an unethical issue (Cline, 2013). There are people who do not belong to any faith yet they consider gay marriages being unethical because they feel that it is wrong for the people belonging to the same sex to be in any kind of relationship. This is because

Geology Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3500 words
Geology - Essay Example Because of these concerns, the prominent changes, at least many of it, occur so in the arctic region. The basis for this is strong positive feedback associated with occurs with ice and snow melt. As a fact, ice and snow are highly reflective and white, for this reason, when the ground or ocean beneath is revealed more absorption occurs. This leads to further warmingfurther melting etc Clearly the level of warming currently occurring in the arctic is having an enormous impact on the region and the magnitude of further warming is set to be disastrous for the region. Thus, the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment (ACIA) states: "The reduction in sea ice is very likely to have devastating consequences for polar bears, ice-dependant seals, and local people for whom these animals are the primary source of food." The polar bear (Ursus maritimus) is the world's largest species of bear and the largest land predator. There is a great difference in size between male and female polar bears, with the males (350-800 kg) weighing more than twice as much as the females (150-300 kg). Their body weight varies considerably during the season - especially female bears which can often double in weight between early spring and late summer. Compared to other bear species, the polar bear has a relatively small, long and narrow head, smaller and shorter fur-covered ears, and shorter, more powerful claws. Its longer predatory teeth and sharper molars have helped polar bears adapt to the arctic climate and its almost exclusively carnivorous lifestyle. The polar bear is the youngest species of bear and is closely related to the brown bear (Ursus arctos) and grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis). In the wild, polar bears normally live to be 20-30 years old. Both males and females mature at the age of four to five years. Females often give birth to their first litter of cubs when they reach maturity, while males do not usually start mating until they are between eight to ten years old. Mating takes place in April-May, but delayed implantation (the fertilised egg stops developing at an early stage) means that foetal development does not commence until September-October. During late autumn, females go into hibernation and remain there for approximately four months. At about the beginning of January, between one and three cubs are born (depending on the mother's age and condition). The newborn cubs are extremely small, weighing only about half a kilo, but they grow rapidly due to the high fat content of their mother's milk. The cubs stay with the mother until they are two-and-a-half years old. The cub infant mortality rate is high and can exceed 70%. Only about a third of cubs r each the age of two. The polar bear is a circumpolar species and is found in arctic regions where there is access to sea ice throughout much of the year. Polar bear populations are found in Canada, Alaska (USA), Greenland, the Russian Arctic, the Norwegian Arctic and on the ice surrounding the North Pole. The global population of polar bears consists of roughly 20,000-25,000 individuals spread between 19 sub-populations. However, polar bears wander across enormous distances, so there are no major genetic differences between these populations. The distribution of polar bears in their habitat is far from even and is highly dependent on the availability of their prey. In the central areas of the polar icecap there is only very limited access to prey, and the density of polar bear

Ethan Frome :: essays papers
Ethan Frome In the novel Ethan Frome, the reader is presented with the character of Ethan, who seems to commit wrong and immoral acts throughout the book. From lust to lies, we see Ethan seemingly jump from one sin to the next. But one can only say these things about Ethan if they have a severe case of tunnel vision. If one looks at the entire character that is Ethan, he can see that while Ethan may commit immoral acts, he is a character that the reader reacts to in a very sympathetic way. At the beginning of Ethanââ¬â¢s story, the reader is told about a man who is in love with his wifeââ¬â¢s cousin. A natural reaction to this idea would be to think that Ethan is a bad person, a man with no morals. But as the plot develops, we are shown the true nature of Ethan; a kind man forced into a marriage with a nagging and bothersome wife. Ethan has spent many years alone with his hypochondriac partner, and the entrance of Mattie into his life is the ray of hope and happiness that he needs to survive. Mattie is not portrayed as a home-wrecking tramp, and therefor the reader feels much differently toward the relationship between Ethan and Mattie than he otherwise would. Even though his affair with Mattie is most definitely an immoral act, the reader feels sympathetic to his situation. Perhaps in her depiction of the lonely manââ¬â¢s situation Warton evokes emotions that the reader has experienced in his own life, therefor causing the reader to become even more sympa thetic towards Ethan and his troubles. Even as Ethan is preparing to commit suicide, a sin that is definitely considered immoral, the reader feels both sympathy and relief that Ethan will escape his situation. When the reader finds out that he survived, there is a kind of let down that he will continue to be tormented in his situation for the rest of his life.
